The yearly touchpoint

Well...
I seem to be a yearly visitor to my own blog !
So calling it a yearly ritual - here I am..
Still very much in Thane,,... kind of used to the place now... i could also claim to some extent that I know my way around thane and mumbai ;)
Locals still remain an enigma to me.. but m used to the enigma now !
Mumbai and Thane no longer seem alien to me ! I am a part of the crowded streets / buses / trains ....
I now know why you can hate or love mumbai- but you just cant ignore it !!
On this note, calling it a ciao :)

 

Introspection n hibernation.....

Sep 2010 to MAr 2011 - thats how long i'v been away from blogspace :)
And a perfectly acceptable and valid reason i give is, i'v been introspecting !!
+ it was winter time u see.. so my hibernation mode :)
now... with the winters gone, n summers simmering around, m back ! YEt again !!
Till i put up a post tomorro, keep guessing what it'll be !

Why I am in awe of TV Serials !!

Well.... For quite some time now, I'v wondered how anybody (womenfolk to be precise), could get addicted to TV serials.. Being home for some time, gave me a chance to try and acquiant myself with TV ! Till now, whenever I, me or HJ switch on the TV, its news or songs or travel or geographic channels, depending on who-comes-first or who-is-more-persuasive at the given time !
Being with ma-in-law, I got to watch a few serials pretty regularly.. And they actually left me dazed... If you'r a character frm a serial, you'll hav to wear those heavy duty sarees all the while.. Add to it the i-dont-know how heavy jewellery... OMG ! Hats off for carrying it all with grace and elegance personified !
The telewriters must also hav to be very versatile.. Every festival has to find a place in the scheme of things... And so does the weather... IF it rains in Mumbai, there must be atleast one episode dedicated to rains !
WOW !! Gets difficult n more difficult, doesnt it ?
wel... the characters too, have to be either holier-than-thou or vampirish ! There is no such thing as regular people :) Well... i havent yet been able to come up with a suitable definition for regular people :)
Its fairly common to see a village belle ! (m a city girl, i really dont kno what a village belle is :) )getting married to a rich guy... All the folks are ultra rich, with those huge houses n bunglows n the works... Oops.. id i say works ?? ;) sorry ! nobody has to work in a serial... The money just appears ! Most of the marriages have to be convenience /scheme / deliberate ! There is no such thing as a normal arranged or love marriage, for that matter :)
My Goodness !!!! Does look like my acquaintance with the diot box and its serials, is about to undergo a major change ;) Hope I wont need to hide the remote everytime ;)

Day 2 @ Thane.....

I dont exactly classify as Animal/Bird Lover now.. But then i had nothing against them either... Till... We moved to Thane...
The day we moved in we encountered just abt 200-300 cockroaches, several dozen pigeons and a few other unknown-to-me creatures, comfortably settled in the place we were to make our home !
just imagine the horror of waking up in the middle of night to find cockroach kid crawling over u !! Yucks !!!!!
We got a maintenance guy to clean a duct and there was a family of pigeons there.. I closely witnessed the evolution of an absolutely ugly looking baby pigeon to equally horrible looking grown up pigeon ! It was dirty, horribly smelly and it was trying to create various percussion type of sounds ! The only interesting part was the way, mom pigeon guided her kiddos to and fro around the window sill for about a whole day, till they could fly away :)
I almost forgot to mention the stray dogs on the road, in the parking and everywhere !
They are supposedly harmless ! but i hate them nevertheless... They never fail to scare me, even thou they may be barkng among themselves... !
Some things have a deep impact on ur impressionable mind... No wonder then, this shifting episode has thus made me a part of 'I hate animals' gang !!

The packing....

'Packing' actually speaking shouldnt have been much of an issue.. Reason being we were going to use the services of movers and packers..
But... :)
Well.. pune home being our own, there was a place for everything and everything was in place !!
Just one yr we've been there and the stuff we'v collected amounts to Oh-my-Gawd kinds !
So there was a 'discussion' over every piece of china ! The discussion would be somewhat on these lines -
Hj : Hey, we dont need this cutlery right ?
Pj : What ?? Lets not go over it all again.. We need this when mom or aai comes..
Hj : Hmm... N what if there are no lofts in the new place ??
Pj : Leave that to me... I'll manage..
Hj : (Reluctance showing large on his face) Alrigh... Put this in one box..

And so, after a lot of - 'do we carry this, do we not carry this' kind of discussions, A-308, as we fondly refer to our pune home, was ready and packed in boxes..
We couldnt shift most of the furniture, because its fixed, custom made things, without any thought of shifting out...

Seeing the whole of our 'sansar' in boxes made me kind of philo.. I suddenly realized, there was a sub conscious attachment i was packing along...
I was attached to the place, the people and the city...
well... but change is an inevitable part of life and so we moved on....

This n that.....

Just noticed, my last update here was in Nov 09..
Well well well... its been a yr :P
Dec just rushed past.... Celebrated first wedding anniversary with my significant half.. Jan was as usual.. time to be conky... This yr we did not make any resolutions ! I welcomed the new yr sleeping :) so 2010's gonna be a sleepy yr for me i guess.... Feb and March went into a lot of introspection n change management kindda scene...
We shifted our base from Pune to Thane...
now thats a major update.. N more than one posts coming up on the shifting episode !right now... listening to the irritating pigeon sounds, trying to make sense of the stuff still lying around me :(
and wondering if i'll actually anytime need any of the papers, i've so carefully preserved ?
